Interlink: first issue of the project's Newsletter available

The first Newsletter of Interlink, the European Project that aims to develop a new model of collaborative governance based on partnership between public administrations, citizens and businesses, has been launched

The first issue of the Newsletter provides a general overview of the initiative, highlighting what the goals and approach of the Project are. Interlink aims to overcome barriers that prevent Public Administrations from sharing services with private partners (including citizens) through the development of a new collaborative governance model and ensuring greater transparency, mutual trust and legitimacy of initiatives. This goal becomes achievable through the combination of two different approaches:

  1. the "top-down" approach, in which the government holds the primary responsibility for creating these EU-compliant services by seeking citizen support for a specific design or delivery task;
  2. the "bottom-up" approach, in which citizens self-organize and provide basic services in which the government does not play an active role in day-to-day activities but can provide a framework.

Indeed, the European Commission says that governance is being transformed by new approaches to public service delivery that enable the involvement of citizens and various other actors. It is for this reason that Interlink represents an open, inclusive and multidisciplinary citizen community that can bring together: experts, professors, practitioners, PhD students from research institutes, national governments, universities, ICT companies and startups.
